Friday, July 12, 2024 Social Welfare Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang held a Workshop on Updating the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Curriculum Strategy of the Social Welfare Study Program. This activity was attended by lecturers, Dean of FISIP, Vice Chancellor 1, Head of BPMI UMM, and several internship partners of the Social Welfare Study Program.

This workshop was opened by Dr. Fauzik Lendriyono, M.Si as the head of the Social Welfare Study Program, conveying about the internship program used to improve skills in social services, “The internship program initiated by the Social Welfare Study Program is useful for students in improving skills in social services so that they not only know the theory but also practice in the field.” said Kaprodi Kesos.

The event was attended by 11 supervisor partners, it is hoped that the presence of these partners will help in the preparation of the curriculum that will be used so that students can have appropriate skills when working with clients.

The Dean of FISIP, Prof. Dr. Muslimin Machmud, M.Si in his speech said that the vision and mission of the study program can be carried out with the help of partners in facing the reality outside the campus, “With the help of partners, it is hoped that the vision and mission initiated by the study program will be relevant to the setting in society. The vision and mission that will be planned can be equated with the criteria of the faculty, especially since the campus has entered international accreditation.”

Prof. Akhsanul In’am, Ph.D., in his speech, stated that the Social Welfare Study Program is one of the best at UMM because it implements the principles of al-Maun as envisioned by KH Ahmad Dahlan. “The integration of knowledge and religious values is evident in the course outlines (RPS) of the Social Welfare Program. Regarding the program’s vision aligned with al-Maun, we teach students how to apply the teachings of Surah al-Maun and Surah al-Baqarah, verse 261, within the context of social welfare,” said the Vice Rector I of UMM.

The event featured a presentation on the Review of the Social Welfare Study Program's Vision and Mission, delivered by Dr. Fauzik Lendriyono, M.Si., Head of the Social Welfare Study Program. The second session, titled Curriculum Development Strategies, was presented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Jabal Tarikh Ibrahim and Dr. Saiman, M.Si., from UMM’s Quality Assurance and Development Agency (BPMI).

The event concluded with a group discussion on the topic of Updating the Vision, Mission, Goals, and Curriculum Strategies. The session was moderated by Zaenal Abidin, S.Sos., M.Si., facilitating an exchange of ideas among participants to ensure the program remains relevant and effective.
